The cheap plastic spouts for the VP Racing Fuels (Sunoco, etc.) multipurpose jugs all seem to have the same problems. They're made cheap, flow slowly, and don't fit correctly into capless-style fill openings. The external threads snag on the spring flap and if you insert the spout too far, it can actually get snagged on the hose clamps.
We set out to design the very best spout with the best materials available. Unfortunately, that drove the cost higher than expected. If you feel this spout is expensive, we are in agreement with you. Even at this price, we may never turn a profit on these. This is a labor of love for us, not a high-profit business.
It's important to note that the tubing portion is a consumable part. It will easily survive exposure to gasoline, ethanol (E85), diesel, etc. It's also UV-resistant. However, it still would be completely normal for the tubing to harden and discolor over time eventually requiring replacement. If this happens within a year of purchase, send us your order number along with a picture, and we'll provide a tubing replacement kit for you.
Simply unscrew the regular spout from the multipurpose jug lid and screw in our spout. Be sure to screw the fitting all the way down until the seal mates with the top of the cap. We recommend using aluminum tools and/or painter's tape if you wish to protect the finish of the lid fitting from scratches.
